Antichrist is the second part of the unholy trinity which receives his power and seat and great authority from the dragon or the devil. (See Revelation 13:1,2)
The antichrist is understood to be the ultimate global dictator who consolidates absolute power over the world's political, military, and economic systems.
Prophetic interpretations, particularly from the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation, suggest that the Antichrist will capitalize on a period of intense global chaos. Through extraordinary charisma, brilliant political strategy, and deceptive peace treaties, he will unite fractured nations under a single, centralized authority, often referred to as a one-world government.
Historically, multiple presidents across the 20th century explicitly used the phrase “new world order instead of one-world government.
George H.W. Bush
President George H.W. Bush is the president most famously associated with the phrase. Following the collapse of the Berlin Wall and the dissolution of the Soviet Union, he used the term to define the post-Cold War era. [1]
In his famous September 11, 1990 Address to a Joint Session of Congress, he defined his vision as:
A "new era, freer from the threat of terror, stronger in the pursuit of justice, and more secure in the quest for peace".
A world where the rule of law supplants the rule of the jungle.
An era in which a credible United Nations could fulfill its founding vision for collective peacekeeping rather than being paralyzed by superpower vetoes.
Richard Nixon
Archival records from The American Presidency Project reveal that President Richard Nixon frequently used the exact phrase "new world order" in diplomatic settings. During his historic opening of diplomatic relations with China and visits to international leaders in 1971 and 1972, Nixon repeatedly made toasts calling on nations to "build a new world order in which nations and peoples... can prosper and live in harmony."
Jimmy Carter
President Jimmy Carter used the phrase when hosting foreign heads of state in the late 1970s. In 1977, Carter remarked that the "creation of that new world order demands bold initiatives" and emphasized building a global framework that was "just, equitable," and took "due cognizance" of developing nations.
Ronald Reagan
President Ronald Reagan also adopted the phrasing during international state dinners. For instance, during a 1982 state dinner for Indonesian President Soeharto, Reagan spoke about their shared "determination to build a new world order which guarantees political... freedom" while acknowledging that constructing such a global landscape is never easy.
Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt (Pre-cursors)
Woodrow Wilson: Following WWI, he championed an idealistic vision for international peace, laying the groundwork for this concept by calling for a League of Nations to collectively prevent global aggression.
Franklin D. Roosevelt & Harry Truman: FDR occasionally used the phrase "new order in the world" to warn against the Axis powers' plans for domination. However, commentators retroactively apply the term to the post-WWII order built by FDR and Truman, which established the United Nations (UN), NATO, the World Bank, and the IMF.
The Antichrist is described as the ultimate spiritual counterfeit to Jesus Christ. While Jesus' kingdom is spiritual and not of this world, the Antichrist's kingdom is aggressively material, political, and authoritarian. Revelation 13:2 explicitly states that "the dragon [Satan] gave him his power and his throne and great authority," meaning his political dominance over human governments is entirely demonically empowered.
We have learned from scripture that Satan only gives his power to those that have pledge their allegiance to him. “And the devil , taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it. If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.” Luke 4:5-7
Twenty U.S. presidents are historically confirmed to have belonged to a prominent fraternal or collegiate secret society.
1. The Freemasons (14 Presidents)
Freemasonry is by far the most well-represented secret society in the White House, with nearly a third of all U.S. presidents achieving the Master Mason degree.
The Members: George Washington, James Monroe, Andrew Jackson, James K. Polk, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, James A. Garfield, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Howard Taft, Warren G. Harding, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, and Gerald R. Ford.
Note: Lyndon B. Johnson was initiated into the very first degree but never advanced to full membership.
2. Independent Order of Odd Fellows (6 Presidents)
Similar to the Masons, the Odd Fellows is a historic fraternal organization focused on charity and community service that utilizes secret rituals and degrees.
The Members: Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, William McKinley, Warren G. Harding, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Harry S. Truman.
Note: McKinley, Harding, FDR, and Truman were members of both the Masons and the Odd Fellows.
3. Skull and Bones (3 Presidents)
Unlike the massive global networks of the Masons or Odd Fellows, this is the ultra-exclusive, fiercely private collegiate secret society based out of Yale University. Only three Yale alumni have ever risen to the presidency, and all three were members:
William Howard Taft (Co-founder Alfonso Taft was one of the society's original creators)
George W. Bush [1, 2, 3, 4]
4. Local and Collegiate Societies
A few early and mid-century presidents belonged to smaller, localized secret collegiate or social organizations:
Thomas Jefferson: Member of the Flat Hat Club (the precursor to modern college fraternities at the College of William & Mary).
Richard Nixon: Member of the Red Friars, a secret senior honor society at Whittier College.
The Concise Order of Hoo-Hoo: A fraternal lumber industry society that included Theodore Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding, and Harry S. Truman. [1]
Totalitarian Control
As the "Ruler of Governments," this figure does not tolerate competing authorities. The Bible details that he will utilize state machinery to enforce:
Economic Control: The implementation of a restrictive economic system where no one can buy or sell without the "mark of the beast" (Revelation 13:17).
Mandatory Worship: The weaponization of state laws to demand absolute religious worship of himself, outlawing faith in the true God and violently persecuting those who refuse to comply.
Ultimate Subversion of Divine Order
In Christian theology, human government was originally instituted by God to restrain evil and maintain order (Romans 13:1). The Antichrist represents the total inversion of this purpose. Under his rule, the institution of government reaches its most corrupt form—becoming a tool used directly by Satan to enforce lawlessness, wage war against God's people, and attempt to usurp the authority of Christ.
In conclusion:
God remains the ultimate owner and ruler of the universe. However, in the present age, He has permitted Satan a restricted, temporary lease of influence over human societies. When human governments rule justly, protect the innocent, and maintain peace, they align with God's intended purpose (Romans 13). But when world powers become corrupt, arrogant, and oppressive, they are easily manipulated and effectively empowered by the "prince of this world" to fulfill adversarial purposes—a corruption that theology predicts will peak during the reign of the Antichrist.
