Guard Your House From the Accursed

It is essential that we take extreme measures to avoid any association with the accursed things. (See Joshua 6:17,18)

As believers we are to abhor that which is evil and cleave to that which is good. (See Romans 12:9)

We are to be so conscious of the danger of the accursed things that we would abstain from all shapes and forms of evil. (See I Thessalonians 5:22)

In the Bible, "accursed things" can refer to objects or even people that were devoted to destruction, a state of being "under the ban" for divine judgment. When it comes to the accursed things we are told to utterly detest them. This means that we are to have a deep-seated abhorrence and rejection for the accursed things. (See Deuteronomy 7:26)

List of Accursed Things

• Idols or objects used in idolatry: Idols are one of the quickest ways to come under demonic oppression or possession. (See Deuteronomy 27:15) If a person even brings a cursed thing into their house the house and everyone in it will become cursed. (See Deuteronomy 7:25,26) Note: Having an idol or anything used and associated with idolatry, like earrings, piercing, tattoos, clothing, food offered to idols, sexual perversion, yoga, can cause you to come under a curse. Why? Because these things will bring you into fellowship with demons and provoke the Lord to jealousy. (See I Corinthians 10:20-22)

• The occult: witchcraft, new age, horoscope, palm reading, dream catcher, drug use, music, movies, books, divination, angel numbers, crystals, ouija board, tarot cards. (See Deuteronomy 18:9-14) Note: Any person who is involved with the occult could transfer a spirit through sexual intercourse. (See I Corinthians 6:15-20)

• The disrespect of parents: Those who disrespect their parents will come under a curse. (See Deuteronomy 27:16) Note: The consequences for disrespecting your parents is a difficult and a short life.  (See Ephesians 6:1-3) Here are a few disrespectful things that will shorten your life. If you were to physically abuse your parents. (See Exodus 21:15) If you were to curse at your parents. (See Leviticus 20:9; Proverbs 20:20)

• The sin of incest: Having sexual relationships with family members such as mother, father, sister or brother are sexual activities that are cursed. (See Deuteronomy 27:20,22; Leviticus 18:6-18) Note: Sarah was Abraham’s half-sister, and they were married does this mean that they were cursed? (See Genesis 20:12) No it doesn’t because the Law of Moses was written over 400 years after Abraham and Sarah.  Because there was no law against Abraham Sarah being married, thus sin is not charged to one’s account. (See Romans 5:13)

• Unforgiveness: When Peter was struggling with the principle of forgiveness Jesus explained to him the curse of unforgiveness. (See Matthew 18:21-35) Note: When we fail to forgive others, we then give demons legal authority to torment us. (See Matthew 18:34,35)

• Tithes: When we rob God by withholding our tithes and offerings, our finances come under a curse. (See Malachi 3:8-12) Note: A 2022 study found that while 77% of Protestant churchgoers view tithing as a biblical command, the actual rate of tithing is significantly lower, 5% of Christians regularly tithe is a widely cited statistic.

• Rewarding good with evil: When we reward good with evil the curse that evil will not depart from our house. (See Proverbs 17:13) Note: The consequences for rewarding someone’s good with evil is laid out in scripture in detail. (See Psalms 109:4-15)

• The nakedness of parents: Looking upon the nakedness of a parent will bring about a generational curse. (See Genesis 9:20-27) Note: It was Ham who looked upon his father’s nakedness and yet the curse fell upon Canaan. Ham had four sons, Cush, Mizraim, Phut and Canaan. (See Genesis 10:6) Psychologists say that bathing with your children is a practice that is critical for your babies’ cognitive and emotional development. 84% of parents agreed that bathing with their children is a wonderful bonding opportunity.

Legal Authority

Before any curse can go into effect it must first have legal authority. (See Proverbs 26:2) For example, the very things which God declares to be a cursed are the very means whereby a curse can gain legal authority. (See Deuteronomy 7:25,26)

In the spiritual realm demons like the raven is an opportunistic spirit. Meaning that they take advantage of circumstances and situations that cause them to gain authority and influence over someone. (See Proverbs 30:17; Luke 11:24-26) Note: Once an unclean spirit is cast out it wonders through dry places seeking a place to settle. Then when it has found no place than it will seek to return unto its house from whence it came. (See II Peter 2:19-22) The unclean spirit can only return once the person has given it legal authority for it to return. 

Satan’s threefold attack against believers:

There are three basic steps that lead us astray; the first step is false doctrine or having carnal mindset. The false teachers, prophets and apostles who are the ministers of Satan lead others into sexual sins. (See II Corinthians 11:13-15; Romans 8:5-8; Revelation 2:18-20)

Wrong friends can also play a role in leading you astray and causing you to fall into sexual sins. (See II Corinthians 6:14-18)

The second step is sexual sins or unnatural sex acts. Just as yoga positions are associated with Hindu gods so also are certain unnatural sex acts associated with gods like Baal and Asherah. (See Numbers 25:1-4)

“For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature.” Romans 1:26

Note: Sexual sins are the work or fruits of the flesh and are followed by idolatry and witchcraft or the occult. (See Galatians 5:19,20) 

Notice that the sexual sin that precedes idolatry and witchcraft is lasciviousness. Lasciviousness is a state of unrestrained sensuality, excessive indulgence, and shameless, immoral behavior, often with a sexual component. It refers to a public, outrageous, and unbridled "wantonness" or "debauchery" that shows a blatant disregard for moral and social restraints.

While unnatural sex acts like oral sex have become a common sexual practice. According to a 2018 survey by the National Survey of Family Growth: Report that 90%: of sexually active adults reported engaging in oral sex at least once. 

Witchcraft has seen substantial growth in the United States over the last few decades, rising from an estimated 8,000 practitioners in 1990 to potentially over 1.5 million in 2024.

Is there any correlation between the popular sex practice of unnatural sex acts and the growth of witchcraft? It is something to think about.

Today we are tremendously attacked like never before, seducing spirits and the doctrine of devil has led many away from the faith. (See I Timothy 4:1) Satan leads the people of God astray first by false doctrine, then by sexual sins and then by dabbling in the occult.  II Timothy 4:1-4)
